January News

Happy New Year!

We trust you had a wonderfully relaxing and joyous festive season and that you are feeling as rejuvenated, refreshed and raring to go as we are!

2018 OAPF

Thank you to everyone who came through to audition for our Franklin & Friends One Act Play Festival. As always it was an absolute delight to witness the strong talent we have here at Franklin. Our directors were certainly spoilt for choice and had a hard time casting for their respective plays, but casting is now officially done and dusted!

Rehearsals begin in earnest from 4th February and we wish everyone involved a ridiculously fun and enjoyable time.

We are thrilled that fellow amdram societies RLT, EADS, Protea Stage Productions and Lefakgomo Youth Development Theatre will be taking part in the festival, and we welcome them once again to the Franklin stage.

Festival show dates are 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th April 2018.

Director’s Workshop

Our annual Director’s workshop is taking place this Sunday, 28th January from 12pm to 1pm at the Rec hall. This workshop is designed to help with tried and tested tips and guidelines for navigating the directorial aspects of theatre, as well as going over the specific rules and overall running of our One Act Play Festival. It is highly advisable that all directors and any future directors attend.

Charity

Every year Franklin sponsors a charity and donates 10% of all ticket sales from productions throughout the year to a worthy cause. In 2016 we raised R5,290 for FORA and in 2017 we raised R5,793 for Barking Mad / DogTown SA!! The handover to Dogtown was done this week and the sincere gratitude with which the money was accepted kept every tail wagging!

This year we are asking YOU to decide who the most deserving cause should be for this year’s contributions. Please take a minute and click on the link below to cast your vote in our 2018 charity poll!

Franklin Social

Our first social for the year will be at i-JUMP Clearwater Crossing on 24th February. The cost is R120 pp and R100 per additional hour. Please let us know if you would like to join us by no later than Friday 16th February so that we can book a session. Looking forward to having you there!
