John Smith - a London taxi-driver - has two wives, one in
Streatham and one, not far away in Wimbledon. He has managed to keep them apart very successfully for a few years,
due to the nature of his business. He tells the one he's on night duty and the other that he's on day duty, which
gives him the opportunity to spend time with them both.
It all works out perfectly until the day he has an accident in his taxi and is taken home to the wrong wife at the
wrong time. It looks like his secret is about to be blown due to enquiries being made by the policeman at the scene
of the accident and he is in danger of losing both his wives.
He enlists the help of his friend, Stanley, to keep the two wives apart and avoid either of them learning about the
other.
What follows is an hilarious romp, pure farce, as situations get more and more complicated with all the lies the
two men have to make up. There is much mistaken identity and characters pretending to be what they are not, as is
typical in farce. It is funny and great fun. And of course everything works out perfectly in the end.
