  5. First of all I would like to say great blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Many thanks!

    • HI Louis,

I think about what I want for the beginning of my play/story for a long time before writing it down so when I sit down all I have to do is put the words on paper.

  6. Hi,
I am an amateur Musical Song writer, As a retired senior I can now chase my dreams.
I have always love to write music, and have probably written over 300 songs.
I write mostly for fun. I also enjoy being involved with Amateur Musical Theater,
I have written seven Musicals, It is always a thrill when an amateur musical theater ot musical group reviews or considers doing one of my musicals.

I realized that it is a challenge for the Amateur group to do Musical Theater today, many of them can no longer afford the cost associated with producing any Musical, even the amateur ones. Many have just given up, especially with the restrictions and obligations that have been attached to producing any Musical. This often discourages Churches, Schools, Youth, and many non profit organizations, from producing a Musical. Amatuer writers like myself depend of there support and feedback.

My Musicals are written by myself, I own them free and clear, there is absolutely no royalty or other costs on any of my material, I offer them free to any amateur musical group that would like to produce a Musical. They may also be customized to meet the capabilities of the producer, without restrictions obligation, costs, or legal hassle. I do ask, they notify me if changes are made to my Lyrics or Music, also for the record, who, where, when, my Musicals or Material will be used. I am always available for questions or on hands help.

When and if you have the time, could you review and check out my material, or one of my Musicals. It could put the fun back into Producing your own productions.

My Musicals & Lyrics are available on line. My music for each musical is available on CD, just let me know where to send the Cd’s, I would be delighted to send my Music to you, free of charge, the postage is on me. Amateur writers like myself need the help and support of groups like yourself if we are to survive.

As you will need both the Music and Lyrics before any Musical is complete, if you are interested in any of my Musicals Lyrics, just send me a mailing address, where to send the musical tracks.

There is no reason why any musical group could can not produce there own Musical.
    Please take a look

Thanks again, any questions, just email me,
Your consideration, help, or any feedback, would be really appreciated. (good or bad)

  42. well done . the fest is growing back to its former glory of years gone by
you call your festival a community festival. Ive twice In recent years been to your committee meeting to try to get you to rejoin Sancta and have another outlet for your plays.
In the90s’ Franklin won the Amfest (now Sancta) festival year after year .
Just as a matter of interest Sancta still uses min TWO people, plays 30 -45 mins and we don’t have 30 mins between plays . As play I goes off in three mins. Blues change to white and blues go back for next play etc.
Our adj write in darkened auditorium, chat at interval and for about 5 mins after last play and then give a very thorough and complex crit on all 3 plays in 30 mins.

    • Thanks very much for your message Noel, and thanks for your support at the festival! The committee is discussing rejoining SANCTA so this is definitely on the cards…
      Cheers
