Now that just spells a whole lot of fun! Auditions get underway this Sunday with four opportunities to showcase your talents. Anybody and everybody is welcome – we have roles available for kids and adults. You will be given 20 minutes to rehearse a scene (don’t worry, we’ll provide audition pieces), and you will be required to sing a quick song (acapella, or you can bring your own backtrack to sing along to).

We love meeting new faces, so pull through and become part of the Franklin family!

Sunday 18 August – 2.30pm
Monday 19 August – 7.30pm
Wednesday 21 August – 7.30pm
Sunday 25 August – 3pm (after workshop, details below)

Please make absolutely sure you will be available to perform on:
22, 23, 29, 30 November 2019

Be your best on stage

Join us for another drama skills workshop on Sunday 25 August from 12 to 2.30pm. Topics to be covered include characterisation, stage presence and confidence, breathing exercises to help with projection, and the importance of entrances and exits. Practical and fun exercises will be performed both on and off the stage, so be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Everybody is welcome!

If you’ve always wanted to try out what it feels like to move around on stage, this is a safe space to explore whether it’s for you. If you have performed previously, this workshop will give you a most helpful and concise round-up of years’ worth of adjudicators’ feedback. Handbook included! Plus, you take home a certificate of participation.

After our notes, pointers and breathing exercises, you should be in top form for our last audition session (completely optional). The workshop is R50 (free for Franklin members) – if you are chosen to play in the panto, this fee is put towards your membership fees for 2019.

You tell us!

When we put on a production, we try and select a script that will delight and entertain our audiences. It’s difficult to please everybody all of the time, so we are asking YOU –

What would like to see performed on the Franklin stage?

Be specific if you like and give us names of plays, or just let us know your preferences in terms of comedy, drama, slapstick, mystery etc.

We also want to do our best when communicating with you, so we ask that you let us know your preferred method of communication. Is it email? Whatsapp? Facebook? In other words –

How should we communicate with you?

Letting us know what you prefer will give us the opportunity to meet and hopefully exceed all your expectations. So please pop an email to or simply reply to this newsletter. You could also drop us a Facebook message or send a Whatsapp to 082 366 9987.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you!
