One Act Play Festival
With the casting done and dusted for our much anticipated annual One Act Play Festival, rehearsals are off to a rip-roaring start. We bring you a delectably diverse variety of shows – no less than three shows per night, and all original scripts!
Franklin joins the stage once again with sister societies Protea Stage Management and Lefakgomo Youth Development Theatre, and we welcome Startime Players to the line-up this year.
The top two productions will perform again in the nail-biting finals on the last night of the festival. Be sure to diarise the show dates pronto so you don’t miss out!

Workshop
The highly successful Skills Workshop held at the hall on Sunday 3rd oozed oodles of nifty tid-bits and imperative information cleverly combined with creative crafty fun and zany zeal! Massive thanks to all who attended and especially to Lisa Oswald for her invaluable expertise. We look forward to doing more workshops like these in the future, so be sure to watch this space!
Lisa Oswald hosted an acting skills workshop for members of Franklin Players
Mid-Year Show
This year we are looking to change things up a bit, move with the times and add some proverbial “spice” into our Franklin line-up… as such we have decided to shelve our traditional Mid-Year Farce in order to run with a Mid-Year Variety Show!
We are going to be looking for a wide range of different entertainment genres and pretty much anything goes – magic shows, skits, monologues, juggling, acrobatics, (insert talent here) – you name it! If you have something you would like to perform and are keen, come and show off your talents!
AUDITION DATES
5th, 6th, 8th May 2019
SHOW DATES
26th & 27th July, 2nd & 3rd August 2019
Call for Paramedic
WE NEED YOU!!
In order to remain compliant with our JOC requirements at the Rec Centre, we are expected to have a paramedic at every show we put on. Outsourcing of this currently is proving both difficult and rather expensive, so we are asking if any of our super resourceful members know of any paramedics who can help us out and attend our shows. Please also be aware that a medical operational plan is necessary.
So please please please put the feelers out there and let us know urgently!!
