Bedroom Farce – bookings open!

Bedroom Farce at Franklin Players this July/AugustIt might be cold outside, but it’s warming up at Franklin because… bookings for the mid-year show, BEDROOM FARCE, are now open!

A raucously ridiculous comedy that’s suitable for all age groups, BEDROOM FARCE is a hilarious take on the neuroses of middle-class marriage written by one of Britain’s greatest modern masters of absurdity, Alan Ayckbourn (for a full synopsis of the play, visit this page).

Adults: R70 per night
Pensioners and Scholars: R40 per night
Paid-up Franklin members: also only R40 per night!

To book, simply contact Wendy on 082 366 9987 or e-mail:

With the play little more than a month away, the cast and crew are rehearsing with the intensity of true professionals. It was this kind of commitment that recently led to…

Congratulations to the cast and crew of ‘What Tangled Webs’, the best overall production at Franklin’s One-Act Festival 2014, for reaching the final of the EADS Annual One-Act English Play Festival, and placing 3rd overall!

Up against 7 other high-quality productions from around the country, What Tangled Webs had the audiences in stitches and received glowing praise from the adjudicators, making this a truly awesome achievement. Thanks for making The Franklin Players proud guys!

Good organisation plays a crucial part in any success, and for this reason we made use of Youth Day, Monday, 16 June, to clean, tidy and organise the hall. Our sincerest thanks go out to Tamara Allkins, Suresh Nampuri, Els de Bundel, Nkopane Makhetha, Dani Tillier, James Urbani, Samantha Keller, and Wendy and Taryn Brehm for graciously giving up their time, on a public holiday, to make sure that the clean-up went very well.

Time is running out for any suggestions you might have for a play for the year-end show. Submissions close at the end of this month, so if there is any particular play that you would like to see performed at the end of the year, please send your suggestion(s) to: by no later than Monday, 30 June.

Remember, suggestions can be for original or established plays, but bear in mind that the end of year show is either a pantomime or a musical, and that the director will need to have previously directed a one-act play.

Auditions for the year-end show will be held over the second weekend of August (Sunday, 10 August and Monday, 11 August).
