It’s hard to believe that the One-Act Play Festival 2014 is already halfway through!!! Needless to say, rehearsals for the remaining shows have reached fever pitch and the atmosphere at the hall is electric!
The festival always attracts large audiences, as it did last weekend, and there is always a particularly big rush for tickets during this, the last week before the final shows. So we encourage you to book your tickets as soon as possible.
Both adjudicator and audience feedback to last weekend’s performances was fantastic, and we know there’ll be the same reaction this weekend.
Remember, ticket prices are extremely reasonable (adults: R60 per night; scholars/pensioners: R40 per night; festival ticket: R180) and easy to book: simply contact Wendy on 082 366 9987, or e-mail: bookings@franklin.org.za
Please note that bookings are confirmed upon payment.
This weekend’s plays are scheduled as follows:
Friday, April 4 (7 for 7:30pm)
– What Tangled Webs
– Miss Independent
Saturday, April 5 (7 for 7:30pm)
– Don’t Knock
– Zoo

Please note that we will also be holding a raffle throughout the course of the festival, so be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page for ticket prices and prizes!
COMMISERATIONS
While we are truly loving the festival, some bad news puts the whole thing in perspective.
Last month we were excited to inform you that internationally-acclaimed South African stage actor, Jonathan Roxmouth, would adjudicate the shows and offer expert feedback to the casts and audiences. However, due to a terrible family trauma, Jonathan is unable to attend.
He sends his sincerest apologies to all concerned, but that really isn’t necessary under such tragic circumstances: we would like him to know that our thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones during this very difficult time.
AUDITIONS for the MID-YEAR SHOW
As you know, when a play or a play festival ends, feelings of despair can often set in. The show is suddenly over, and all those weeks and months of excitement, commitment, focus, joking, laughing and bonding have come to an abrupt end, and left a void that’s hard to fill.
The only way to stop this is to put on another show ASAP, and that’s why we’re holding auditions for our mid-year show on Sunday, April 13 and Monday, April 14, just one week after the festival.
We’re still in the process of selecting the script, but we can tell you that it’ll be a COMEDY, and that we’ll announce the selected play right here on our website and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/FranklinPlayers) the moment the decision has been made!!!
Finally, a few reminders that…
